Health officials say the number of abortions performed in Minnesota went up last year, the first increase since 2006.
The Minnesota Department of Health said in a report released Wednesday that there were about 10,100 abortions performed in 2014, up 2.2 percent from 2013. The St. Paul Pioneer Press reports there were about 14,000 abortions in 2006.
The Department of Health says 90 percent of Minnesota abortions last year were in the first trimester of pregnancy, with the rest happening in the second trimester.
The report is required by Minnesota law, based on mandatory reports from abortion providers.
