For this week's festival, we're looking to Northfield for the Vintage Band Festival.
This year the festival lasts one day, but a four-day event takes place every three years. An eclectic array of local and out-of-state bands will begin playing at 9 a.m. and go through 9 p.m.
Featured bands include old-time dance band Swing and a Miss, the 34th Division "Red Bull" Infantry Band, Bavarian Musikmeisters and Mariachi Mi Tierra.
Festival organizer Paul Niemisto joined MPR News' Tom Crann to talk about the sounds and sights of the event.

Here are some more events to check out this weekend:
• You can truck on over to the Scott-Carver Threshers Harvest Festival in Jordan, which begins today and goes through Sunday. Attractions include threshing and tractor demonstrations, a one-room school house and a spark show. Adults pay $8 for a three day badge and kids get in free.
• If that isn't enough heavy metal for you, the Franconia Sculpture Garden in Shafer is hosting its Community Collaboration Hot Pour tomorrow at 10 a.m. Participants can carve their own molds and watch artists pour molten iron to turn the designs into sculptures. If you want to make a mold the day of the event, make sure to show up before noon.
• And if you're looking for something more delicate, Minneapolis' Riverfront Festival begins at 5:30 p.m. tonight at Ole Olson Park. Aside from live music acts and various food vendors, this year features the Mississippi River Boat Ballet — a synchronized water dance involving 45 different boats.
