It'll be the Minnesota Wild and Chicago Blackhawks outdoors in the middle of a Minnesota winter.

NHL officials on Wednesday unveiled details of the league's coming Winter Classic event, an outdoor game that the Wild and Blackhawks will play Feb. 21 at TCF Bank Stadium on the University of Minnesota campus in Minneapolis.

Ticket costs will run $109 to $449, officials said. That includes an alumni game between ex-Blackhawks and members of the old Minnesota North Stars.

"The rivalry with the Wild is really heating up and there's no better place to rekindle it than TCF," Blackhawks CEO John McDonough said Wednesday during a press conference at the stadium. The Blackhawks eliminated the Wild this year on their way to another Stanley Cup championship.

Blackhawks fans love to travel, McDonough said. "They will be here. They will be polite."

Tickets are not yet on sale to the general public. Minnesota Wild season ticket holders will get the first chance to buy tickets to the Winter Classic. Fans who join the Wild waiting list for season tickets are also guaranteed to receive access before the general public, the team said.

The outdoor Winter Classic games have become a favorite of NHL fans the past few years, drawing big crowds and international interest.

"It is a great day for the State of Hockey," Wild general manager Chuck Fletcher said in a statement. "Everyone knows we've been pursuing an outdoor game for a while, and it is a great day to finally be able to announce we're hosting one. Our staff is excited to put on a good show."
