It's an issue that affects us all. We've gone from a health care system not too many years ago that placed few demands on patients to a system that requires much more cash up front.

High deductibles, big copays, drug costs, and all kinds of other fees are now pretty standard if you need to visit the doctor.

MPR News host Mike Mulcahy is joined by Mark Zdechlik, a reporter who covers the business of health care for MPR News. And Sara Collins is Vice President of Health Care Coverage & Access for the Commonwealth Fund, a health policy research organization for a discussion about why things have changed and how people are managing their health care with so many out-of-pocket expenses.
