Two freeways in the western suburbs of the Twin Cities will close Friday for the weekend.
MnDOT said it will be closing a 2-mile stretch of southbound Hwy. 100 in Edina for the next three weekends, starting at 10 p.m. tonight. The southbound side of the highway will close between Hwy. 62 and I-494.
Eastbound Hwy. 62, below the Hwy. 100 bridge, will be reduced to one lane overnight Friday.
Farther north, southbound Interstate 494 will be closing from the junction with I-694 down to I-394. It's an eight mile stretch of the freeway in Maple Grove, Plymouth and Minnetonka.

Saturday congestion near Collegeville
The Minnesota State Patrol is also warning motorists to expect congestion in an unusual place tomorrow — on I-94 near Collegeville.
The patrol says the annual football game between St. John's and rival St. Thomas is expected to draw a big crowd. A live ESPN SportsCenter broadcast from St. John's is expected to bring even more people and traffic than usual to the Collegeville campus.
The game starts at 1 p.m., but traffic in the area could be heavy as soon as 10 a.m. The State Patrol is asking motorists to be patient and plan for possible delays and optional routes.
