Elections in Canada last month led to big changes across the border. The newly-elected members of Parliament are about to take office, and Justin Trudeau of the Liberal Party will become Prime Minister on Wednesday.
The district — or riding, as it's known in Canada — that includes the border with northeastern Minnesota will have a new member of Parliament: Don Rusnak. Rusnak will now represent the Thunder Bay-Rainy River riding, which includes Fort Frances — the twin city to Minnesota's International Falls.
Rusnak is one of a record 10 indigenous or First Nation candidates who won a seat in Canada's Parliament. He joined MPR News' Tom Weber to discuss his upcoming term, and the connections between his district and the neighboring Minnesota region.
