Kat Chow covers race, ethnicity, and culture for NPR's Code Switch team.
As part of Minnesota Public Radio's Broadcast Journalist Series, Chow joined Tom Weber at the University of St. Thomas earlier this week to discuss Chow's approach to covering race in America. They also discussed diversity — and the lack of it — in journalism.
Chow helped launch Code Switch almost three years ago. "One of the things we're trying to do is help NPR look and sound more like America," Chow said.
Further reading: Stephanie Foo, of This American Life, recently addressed the need for diversity in public radio in her article, "What to Do If Your Workplace is Too White." Chow and Weber referenced Foo's article in their discussion.
