The Minneapolis Public Schools board has named the six semifinalist candidates for the district's open superintendent position.
The group includes Interim Superintendent Michael Goar, as well as candidates from Massachusetts, Houston and Milwaukee.
Ted Blaesing, a consultant for the superintendent search, said at least five candidates backed out because because they would be named publicly — something the board chose to do to keep the process open.
The semifinalists will be interviewed early next week. A final decision is expected Dec. 7.
