A student assaulted St. Paul school staff Wednesday at Journeys Secondary School, a school for students with emotional and behavioral disabilities.
A 13-year-old student punched a staff member in the face and was aggressive toward staff, according to the police report. The girl was taken into custody at the Ramsey County Juvenile Detention Center on pending charges of fourth degree assault, theft, disorderly conduct and terroristic threats.
A spokesperson for St. Paul Public Schools says a security guard and an educational assistant were involved. One of them was punched, neither sought medical attention.
It's the 28th time a student has reportedly assaulted a school staffer in Ramsey County this year.
"School safety and security are top priorities for St. Paul Public Schools," said district spokesperson Toya Stewart Downey. "We want safe learning environments for our students and staff and are doing what we can to make that possible."
