The Minnesota Vikings say they're investigating a racially charged incident reported by a fan during last weekend's Seahawks game.
Attorney Deepinder Mayell told the story in the Star Tribune on Wednesday. He said he was attending his first Vikings game and first NFL game when he was accosted by another fan.
Mayell wrote that the fan pushed his way to Mayell, stuck his finger in Mayell's face and demanded to know if Mayell was a refugee. Mayell said the other fan was white, and he was not — and that the other fan may have been suspicious of Mayell's intentions in the wake of a national debate over refugees and terrorism.
Mayell said he contacted stadium security and confronted the other fan, but that the fan was allowed to return to his seat, although Mayell wanted him ejected.
The Vikings said they planned to meet with Mayell, and are talking to security personnel about how to better handle such incidents.
