Good morning. President Obama gave a speech last night and a lot of other things happened as well. So here are a few news items worth reading:
1. The president's speech pushed back against the vision of America that Donald Trump, Ted Cruz and the other Republican candidates have been offering on the campaign trail. (New York Times)
2. Even the Republican response from South Carolina Gov. Nikki Haley was a shot at Trump. (Politico)
3. The Minneapolis school board decided against hiring Sergio Paez as its next superintendent. (Star Tribune)
4. It was a great year on Minnesota farms. So good that it was bad. (MPR News)
5. Has one of Einstein's most elusive predictions finally been proven? (Popular Science)
