Kelly Kaduce is a soprano with a warm and rich voice, stunning beauty, and superb acting ability.

Soprano Kelly Kaduce is back home in Minnesota to sing a role she's sung here before. She'll be in the Minnesota Opera production of Rusalka beginning this weekend.

The music is by the Czech composer Antonin Dvorak. It's based on a folktale of a mermaid who falls in love with a mortal. In fairy tales and operas, that seldom turns out well.

Kaduce is becoming known the Rusalka not just here, but on stages all over.

MPR News talked with Kaduce about the role, her career and her upbringing in Minnesota.
