We don't have much snow on the ground over southern and central Minnesota. Here is the latest snow depth map from the Minnesota State Climatology Office:

The map was compiled yesterday, and some additional melting has happened since then. The official snow depth at Minneapolis-St. Paul International Airport is now zero. St. Cloud reports a trace of snow on the ground.

Record warmth on Saturday?

We expect plenty of sunshine on Saturday. Combine the sunshine with southwesterly breezes and mostly bare ground and you have the recipe for some record highs in southern Minnesota.

Our record high stands at 54 degrees for Feb. 27 in the Twin Cities. We are expecting highs in the upper 50s in the metro area tomorrow, and a few spots in southern Minnesota could even touch 60 degrees.

Cooler Sunday, with rain and snow possible

Our temperatures will be cooler on Sunday as a low pressure system moves through Minnesota, followed by a cold front.

We could see some rain showers at times on Sunday in the Twin Cities and much of southern Minnesota. A few snowflakes are also possible.

In central Minnesota, including St. Cloud, a mix of rain, sleet and snow is possible on Sunday. Periods of snow are expected over northern Minnesota.
