Our gorgeous, sun-splashed Saturday resulted in a new record high of 70 degrees in the Twin Cities. 

We also hit 70 last Tuesday, which is very impressive since 70 degrees is a typical high for the middle of May!

Other record highs reported yesterday: 68 St. Cloud, 67 Eau Claire WI, 66 Fargo ND and 60 in Duluth and International Falls.

Foggy start

Be careful if you are driving in southwestern Minnesota, northwestern Iowa or eastern South Dakota this morning. A dense fog advisory is in effect until noon, because fog is causing very low visibilities:

It had to get cooler

Cooler highs are expected today, but they will still be well above our average high of 40:

A low pressure system will bring us showers at times today through Monday, with steadier rain and a chance of a thunderstorm on Tuesday:

Flakes Wednesday and Thursday?

Computer models show a strong low pressure system nearby on Wednesday and Thursday. It pulls in colder air, giving us a chance of some snow showers mixed with rain showers both days.

Northern Minnesota could see highs in the 30s and mostly snow late Wednesday into Thursday, with some accumulation. Twin Cities highs will be in the 40s Wednesday and Thursday, with colder temps a few hundred feet above the surface, allowing for that chance of flakes.

The European forecast model shows highs in the 30s Wednesday and Thursday in the Twin Cities, which would give us a good chance of seeing some flakes.

We'll see if there is a consensus in the coming model runs.
