Laura Nirider is an attorney representing Brendan Dassey. If that name sounds familiar, his confession and trial was featured in the hit Netflix documentary series, "Making a Murderer." Nirider says confessions hold so much weight in criminal trials that even when evidence proves them false, they lead to convictions 80 percent of the time.
Nirider is co-director of the Center on Wrongful Convictions of Youth at Northwestern University. She spoke February 22, 2016 in Minneapolis at the University of St. Thomas School of Law.
