The Minnesota Orchestra has announced its 2016-17 season, which includes the return of three former directors of the orchestra.

The season opens Sept. 22 and 23 with concerts featuring violinist Joshua Bell. Former directors Sir Neville Marriner, Edo de Waart and Stanislaw Skrowaczewski will return for performances during the season.

Set to join the orchestra for performances are Broadway star Kristin Chenoweth on March 4 and members of the group Boyz II Men on Feb. 11.

The orchestra will also play during screenings of "Ratatouille," ''E.T. the Extra-Terrestrial," ''It's A Wonderful Life" and 2009's "Star Trek."

January brings a series of concerts in Florida for the orchestra. In May 2017, the orchestra will travel throughout Minnesota to perform concerts in cities including Grand Rapids and Bemidji, with details about locations and dates announced in the future.
