About two dozen protesters demonstrating against the Minneapolis police shooting of Jamar Clark were arrested outside Target Field Monday during the Twins home opener after they refused to leave the light rail tracks.
Blue and Green line service to the station was shut down but reopened by 4:30 p.m. Inside the stadium, protesters briefly hung banners in the outfield during the playing of the national anthem saying, "re-open Jamar's case" and "Target Field: end your slave labor."
The arrests were for trespassing and interfering with public transportation.
The Target Field demonstrations came a week after the head of the Minneapolis NAACP called on authorities to reopen the Clark police shooting case and appoint a special prosecutor to lead the investigation.
Clark was shot by Minneapolis police in November during a confrontation. Hennepin County Attorney Mike Freeman declined to press charges against the officers, saying they feared for their lives and their use of deadly force was justified. Freeman's decision sparked outrage and protests.
