The Houston, Texas metropolitan area continues to have widespread flooding this Monday evening, after historic rains last night and this morning.
From midnight to 8 a.m. alone, the Houston airport recorded 9 inches of rain. Storm totals in parts of the Houston metro area were 17 inches, according to the Houston office of the National Weather Service. The highest rainfall totals were on the western side of the Houston metro area:
It will take some time to recover from the flooding, and our best wishes go out to the residents of Houston.

You can see that heavy rain is still in the forecast for parts of the southern U.S., especially from east Texas into Louisiana.
Cooler the rest of this week
Temperatures the past three days have been running about 20 degrees above normal over southern Minnesota. Cooler highs are on tap for the rest of this week. Highs on Tuesday will be mainly in the 60s over southern Minnesota:
We'll see highs in the 50s over most of northern Minnesota, and some 40s near Lake Superior.

A shower is still possible Thursday morning, then a dry and bright Friday seems likely:
