We'll have gusty southerly breezes today and very low humidity levels. Temperatures will soar into the 80s this afternoon over most of Minnesota:
The National Weather Service has issued a red flag warning from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. today for most of central and northern Minnesota and northwestern Wisconsin:
The northern half of the Twin Cities metro area is included in the red flag warning. Any fires that develop will probably spread rapidly, so outdoor burning is not recommended.
There is an elevated fire danger over southern Minnesota as well, even though the south is not included in the red flag warning.

Shower chance late afternoon and this evening
A cold front sags southward later today, and could spawn a few showers and an isolated thunderstorm:
In the Twin Cities, our rain chance would be mainly this evening into the overnight hours.
Cooler this weekend
Highs will be closer to normal on Saturday:
Highs in the 60s will be common tomorrow over much of Minnesota, with some lower 70s possible.
Sunday will be sun-splashed, with light winds and pleasant temperatures:
Central and southern Minnesota should see highs in the lower 70s on Mother's Day.
Rain chance to start the week
We need some rain, and it looks like occasional showers will move through on Monday and Tuesday:
The best rain chance appears to be Monday evening, but we could see occasional showers any time from Monday through Tuesday. Highs will be in the 60s both days.
