Last month, Austrians nearly elected the first right-wing president in decades. While the Green Party candidate prevailed, the vote was razor thin. France, Holland, Denmark and Hungary are all witnessing the rise of anti-immigrant, nationalistic candidates.
MPR News host Kerri Miller talks with David Rennie, Washington Bureau Chief and Lexington Columnist for The Economist magazine, about possible commonalities between the European right and the views that Donald Trump holds. Cas Mudde, associate professor of international affairs at the University of Georgia and the author of the new book, "On Extremism and Democracy in Europe," also joins to discuss what voters are actually communicating as they rally around these candidates here and abroad.
