Thunderstorm chances increase late afternoon into tonight

Slow-moving thunderstorms dropped over 3 inches of rain on Red Wing this morning, then moved on to the southeast.

Another batch of thunderstorms will move into western Minnesota this afternoon, and could arrive in the Twin Cities after sunset:

The Storm Prediction Center of the National Weather Service indicates a slight risk of severe weather over much of western Minnesota for today and tonight. The Twin Cities area is included in the marginal risk of severe weather, with the best chance of a strong to severe thunderstorm arriving after sunset and into the overnight hours.

Cooler some areas.

Some spots that were in the 90s yesterday will see 80s today:

80s will be common from central through southeastern Minnesota. Parts of the Twin Cities metro area could see mid 80s. Southwestern Minnesota will pop into the 90s.

Cool 70s are on tap for much of northern Minnesota, and some areas along the north shore of Lake Superior could top out in the 60s.
