Plotting that weekend getaway from St. Paul? You'll have to figure how to get out of town without Interstate 35E.
The Minnesota Department of Transportation is shutting down both directions of the highway starting at 9 p.m. Friday on key stretches in and near St. Paul.
Those are likely the biggest hassles on MnDOT's weekend construction closure map but not the only ones.
I-35E, St. Paul. Yes, the highway will completely close in both directions between I-94 and Shepard Road from 9 p.m. through 5 a.m. Monday so construction crews can remove pavement from the St. Clair Avenue bridge so the deck can be repaired.

I-35E, White Bear Lake, Vadnais Heights. The interestate will also be down in both directions between County Road 14 and Country Road E, starting at 9 p.m. as crews remove the rest of the old Highway 96 bridge deck.
Minnesota Highway 100, St. Louis Park. Didn't think you were getting a weekend without a Highway 100 closure, did you? At 10 p.m. Friday, MnDOT shuts down Highway 100 northbound between Minnesota Highway 62 and Interstate 394. Crews will begin closing the ramps at 9 p.m.
Like everything else, it's expected to reopen by 5 a.m. Monday.
