Minneapolis police found a man dead from gunshot wounds inside a home in north Minneapolis Thursday night.

Officers responded to the 3500 block of Knox Avenue North on a report of sounds of muffled gunshots, according to Minneapolis police.

When police arrived, they were flagged down by a person who wanted them to check on someone inside one of the homes.

Police said they spoke with people in the area and crime lab personnel processed the scene. No other information was released.

Minneapolis police say officers will be patrolling the area in the coming days and are encouraging residents to talk with them.
