Today's Morning Edition music is from "Fire" by the Pointer Sisters who will be performing Saturday night at Loring Park in Minneapolis.
Bruce Springsteen said he wrote this song with Elvis Presley in mind, but The King never recorded it. In 1979, this version made it to No. 2 on the Billboard pop chart. Only one of the original sisters, Ruth Pointer, is still singing with the group. These days she is joined by her daughter and granddaughter.
Their performance Saturday is part of the Twin Cities Pride Festival.
