Today's Morning Edition music is from "Afternoon Delight" by the Starland Vocal Band, which was No. 1 on the Billboard pop chart 40 years ago today.
When they introduced the song in concert, the band would say that it was inspired by the late-afternoon appetizer menu at the restaurant Clyde's Of Georgetown in Washington, D.C. The items on the menu were labeled "Afternoon Delights."
Most people who heard the song didn't think it was about food.
