A warm front is moving through southern Minnesota this morning and early afternoon, and a cold front will move through Minnesota later this afternoon and tonight. Both fronts will ignite some thunderstorms:
Severe weather is possible. The Storm Prediction Center of the National Weather Service indicates an enhanced risk of severe weather for much of Minnesota, including the Twin Cities metro area, today and tonight:
The remainder of Minnesota has a slight risk of severe weather.
Large hail and damaging thunderstorm winds are the main severe weather threat, but a tornado is also possible. The highest tornado threat will tend to be near the warm front that moves through during the morning and early afternoon hours.

Heavy rain is possible. A flash flood watch is in effect this afternoon through tonight for a portion of Minnesota north of the metro area to around Duluth, and also northwestern Wisconsin:
