The film's soundtrack was released 29 years ago today, on Aug. 4, 1987.

The album was a knock-out success. It sold more than a million copies within about a month of its release. It ultimately became one of the best-selling albums of all time.

"Time of My Life," by Bill Medley and Jennifer Warnes, hit No. 1 on the Billboard chart in November 1987.
