The time Minnesota almost ruled the internet

MPR News host Tom Weber dove into the history of the early internet with Twin Cities writer Tim Gihring.

In a recent MinnPost article, Gihring told the story of something called the Internet Gopher - an early and major competitor the to the World Wide Web, developed by a small band of programmers at the University of Minnesota. His article was called, "The Rise and fall of the Gopher protocol."
