Minnesota Nice: Weather stars at Ryder Cup opening ceremony

Just in time.

The sun came out Thursday at Hazeltine National in Chaska. What many called the largest crowd ever for a Ryder Cup opening ceremony basked in bright sunshine under a bright blue Minnesota sky.

Temperatures reached 68 degrees during the opening ceremony, but I can assure you it felt a lot warmer out there. Team USA strolled onto the red carpet under under blue sky.

Friday's forecast looks spectacular.

Sunshine and a high temperature near 70 degrees? You just can't draw it up any better. A few more clouds return this weekend, but temperatures in the upper 60s and light winds all weekend long are nearly ideal golf weather.

I spoke with the PGA of America meteorologists working the Ryder Cup again today. They said the grounds crew at Hazeltine is delighted with the drier weather and forecast. The golf course is in excellent shape for golf's premiere international event.

The wettest year on record so far followed by Minnesota nice weather just in time for the world stage of golf?

Priceless.
