State GOP lawmakers plan to meet today to choose new leadership after they won control of the Senate but lost their leader, David Hann.
In one of the few races incumbent Republicans lost, Hann came up about a thousand votes short against Democrat Steve Cwodzinski in district 48. That covers some southwestern suburbs of Minneapolis.
However, Republicans' Assistant Minority Leader Michelle Benson maintained her seat in the new Republican-dominated legislature.
MPR's Cathy Wurzer spoke with Benson about the election results and state senate Republicans' priorities.
