Today's Morning Edition music is from Leon Russell and Elton John with "If It Wasn't for Bad" from their 2010 collaboration "The Union."

Russell, who was a member of the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame and Songwriters Hall of Fame, passed away Sunday at the age of 74. John wrote this about Russell on Instagram: "He was a mentor, inspiration and so kind to me. I loved him and always will."

In addition to his success as a solo performer in the 1970s, Russell worked with many other artists including Jerry Lee Lewis, the Beach Boys, Joe Cocker and Bob Dylan.
