Today's Morning Edition music is from "Lawdy Miss Clawdy" by Lloyd Price. It's one of the tunes featured in the new book "Anatomy of a Song" by Marc Myers.
It's an oral history of 45 iconic pop, rock and R&B hits.
In the first chapter, Price describes how he was discovered in 1952 while playing this song in his mother's sandwich shop in New Orleans. When it was recorded, Fats Domino played the piano part. Price says "Fats played the introduction like a tinkling piano roll. Nobody has ever played that intro like Fats did that day."
