Today's Morning Edition music is from "Groovin'" by the Young Rascals, which was No. 1 on the Billboard pop chart 50 years ago.
The song was inspired by the realization that musicians typically have to work on Fridays and Saturdays, so Sunday afternoons are usually the best time to get together with a sweetheart.
The record company didn't think the song should be released as a single, but influential DJ Murray the K heard it and was sure it would be a hit so he convinced the record company to change their decision.
