Seven continents in ten years, that's explorer and educator Ann Bancroft's plan. She and her team of international women are working on events across the globe to bring to light the importance of rivers.
"Our primary focus is education and really engaging people into this wonderfully diverse and complex world," Bancroft told MPR's Tom Weber.
Her first trip was down the Ganges River in India, next is the Mississippi in 2018. She'll start in Itasca State Park and make her way down to the Gulf of Mexico.
She was joined on stage at the Minnesota State Fair by Patrick Nunnally who is the coordinator of the River Life Program.
This education program out of the University of Minnesota is "an incubator for new ideas about the relations of water, place and community," Nunnally said.
