Rising hip hop star Lil Yachty, 20, plays Thursday night at the Myth nightclub in Maplewood.

Lil Yachty, an Atlanta native, says he initially wanted to make a name for himself as a fashion icon through Instragram.

Since he started concentrating on music, Lil Yachty has collaborated with artists like Kayne West, Chance the Rapper and Macklemore. He describes his musical style as "bubblegum rap."

He told Rolling Stone, "I've got songs that sample Mario Brothers, Charlie Brown, the 'Rugrats' theme and the music that plays when you turn on a Gamecube."
