The gate to the State Fair on Snelling Avenue closed Sunday afternoon as about one hundred demonstrators made their way toward the fairgrounds. Snelling Avenue was shut down to traffic in both directions in the area.
Demonstrators marched to renew calls for better police accountability in the wake of high profile incidents in the Twin Cities.
They want an all civilian elected Police Accountability Council for the city of Minneapolis.
Several groups organized the demonstration, including Black Saint Paul, The New North, Black Lives Matter Minnesota, Black Lives Matter Twin Cities, Native Lives Matter, Twin Cities Coalition for Justice for Jamar, Anti-War Committee, Communities United Against Police Brutality and Asamblea de Derechos Civilies.
St. Paul police urge drivers to find alternate routes to the fair.
