Today's Morning Edition music is from "Best of My Love" by the Emotions, which was No. 1 on the Billboard pop chart 40 years ago.
The Emotions started as three sisters singing together at Mount Sinai Baptist Church in Chicago. They were known as the Heavenly Sunbeams when they hosted a Sunday morning gospel radio program. But when the group took more of secular turn they changed their named to the Emotions.
"Best of My Love" was written and produced by two members of Earth, Wind and Fire. It came out during the height of the disco era.
