It's Joni Mitchell's birthday Tuesday. A new biography by David Yaffe came out earlier this year, "Reckless Daughter: A Portrait of Joni Mitchell."

In it, she opens up about her personal life including a mysterious illness that has kept her mostly out of the public eye in recent years. Mitchell says she has Morgellon's disease. She says, "I have this weird, incurable disease that seems like it's from outer space. Fibers in a variety of colors protrude out of my skin like mushrooms after a rainstorm."
