One year after the presidential election both Republicans and Democrats are still facing an identity crisis within their own parties. As the Democrats search for their next leader Republicans — like Jeff Flake — are quarreling with theirs.

How is the partisan divide growing larger even as more individuals express frustration within their own parties?

Three guests joined MPR Host Kerri Miller in studio to take on big questions about what party loyalty means in 2017:

• Kathryn Pearson is an Associate Professor of Political Science at the University of Minnesota.
