Former Shakopee Schools Superintendent Rod Thompson has been charged with a 21-count complaint for misuse of a district credit card.
Thompson allegedly used the card to buy items for personal use including airfare, hotels, electronics and jewelry, according to the charging documents. The purchases also allegedly included smaller items like cowboy boots and Vikings memorabilia.
The documents say Thompson also committed fraud with an adoption benefit that was part of his contract.
Over a five-year period, fraudulent purchases and reimbursements totaled more than $73,000, according to the Shakopee police department.
The complaint totals 20 felony counts and one misdemeanor count.
