President Trump nominated Minnesota Supreme Court Justice David Stras in May for a vacancy on the 8th Circuit Court of Appeals.
This is a lifetime appointment, but his nomination stalled when Minnesota Senator Al Franken opposed his confirmation hearing. Franken says he was concerned by what he called Stras' "deeply conservative" opinions.
Ted Sampsell-Jones of Mitchell Hamline School of Law joined the program to talk about if Stras is eventually confirmed, his seat on the state Supreme Court would be filled by Governor Mark Dayton.
They were also joined by political reporter Brian Bakst.
