Jim Nabors died Thursday at the age of 87. His beautiful baritone singing voice made him a popular attraction in Las Vegas, but he's best known for a character he played on television.
Gomer Pyle worked at the gas station in Mayberry on "The Andy Griffith Show." He was so popular in that role, they gave Nabors his own series. "Gomer Pyle U-S-M-C" was on the air from 1964 to 1969.
During the 1970s he moved to Hawaii and bought a 500-acre macadamia nut ranch.
In 2013 he married his longtime partner Stan Cadwallader, who was by his side when he died.
