Sister Rosetta Tharpe will be entering the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame next year with the Award for Early Influence.
Elvis Presley was a big fan of the way she played the guitar. Johnny Cash and Little Richard both described her as their favorite singer.
On his Theme Time Radio Hour, Bob Dylan said this about Tharpe: "She was a big, good-lookin woman, and divine, not to mention sublime and splendid. She was a powerful force of nature. A guitar-playin', singin' evangelist."
