It's been a golden day for Minnesotans at the Olympics, and a pretty poor one for Team Canada.

The U.S. women's hockey team bested Canada in a shootout to win the gold medal, with goalie and Andover native Maddie Rooney notching more than two dozen saves in the process.

And in curling, the U.S. men's team — dominated by Minnesotans — beat the Canadian team in the semifinals. The U.S. men will play Sweden for the gold on Saturday.

MPR News guest host Phil Picardi ran down the latest with KARE 11 sports anchor Dave Schwartz, who's covering the games from PyeongChang.
