"(Love Is) Thicker Than Water" by Andy Gibb with Joe Walsh of the Eagles on guitar was number Billboard pop chart 40 years ago this week. Gibb, who was 20 years old at the time, is credited as the co-author of the song though he admitted in an interview that the only thing he came up with was part of the title.
His older brother, Barry Gibb of the Bee Gees, wrote the rest. This was one of four straight number one singles in the U.S. that Barry Gibb had a hand in writing. It broke the record of three straight held by John Lennon and Paul McCartney.
