Denver-based singer and songwriter Esme Patterson will be in the Twin Cities tonight for a show at Icehouse.
Patterson told NPR Music that one of her best-known songs, "No River," is about coming to terms with death.
"It's about the freedom that we can find when we surrender to the realization that we are mortal," she says. "By understanding that we are dying, we also understand that we are alive in this very moment."
