Nearly 50 years after Aretha Franklin performed in Los Angeles with the Southern California Community Choir, a documentary about the concerts is finally hitting theaters.
During filming, the audio and images were accidentally recorded out of sync, so the project was shelved. Years later, the problem was corrected — but Franklin blocked the film's release. After her death in August, the executor of Franklin's estate decided the film could be released. "Amazing Grace" is now showing at the Uptown Theater in Minneapolis.
