Jazz saxophonist Benny Golson performs Wednesday and Thursday at Crooners Lounge and Supper Club in Fridley.

Golson played tenor sax with many of the greats from the golden era of jazz — and composed tunes that themselves became jazz standards.

Now 90, Golson released his latest album, "Horizon Ahead," in 2016.

Correction (April 24, 2019): An earlier version of this story said Golson would be playing at the Dakota Jazz Club. He will be performing at Crooners. The audio has been updated.
