Saxophonist Irv Williams is turning 100.
Williams once told MPR that his first paid gig came at the age of 15, when he earned 75 cents playing at a prom party in his native Arkansas. In the decades after, Williams became a fixture in the Twin Cities jazz scene.
Williams is celebrating his 100th birthday with a party Wednesday night at the Dakota Jazz Club in Minneapolis.
