Zager and Evans were No. 1 on the Billboard pop chart 50 years ago today with "In the Year 2525."
The song is a pessimistic vision about what will happen to humans in the future. Nebraska natives Denny Zager and Rick Evans themselves proved to be one-hit wonders. “In the Year 2525” is the only song they ever released that made it into the Top 100.
